Yoga practise help transform your genetics: study

OSLO, NORWAY: A recent study by researchers from the University of Oslo, Norway found that Yoga and Sudarshan Kriya can substantially change the genes in the body’s immune cells.
Led by Dr Fahri Saatcioglu, the researchers experimented about 10 subjects.
“So, in our study, we asked whether there are rapid effects of a compressive programme derived from yoga on gene expression parents in circulating immune cells. And the programme that we used as an interventional in the study is thought by the international art of living foundation worldwide,” said Dr Fahri Saatcioglu, Head of the Section for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, as well as a senior scientist at Oslo University Hospital, Norway.
The yoga practices included in the programme are:
  • yoga asanas: classical, gentle hatha yoga postures
  • ujjayi breath and pranayama
  • Bhastrika which is a force rapid breathing exercise
  • and Sudarshan Kriya which is a unique stress management and self-development programme.
The participants practised yoga and Sudarshan Kriya for 2 days, spending 2 hours moving through yoga postures Sudarshan Kriya and meditation. For the next 2 days, they spent times in nature walks and listening to music. Then the researchers analysed the blood samples of participants.
‘A compressive yoga programme gives a right to changes in gene expression parents in circulating immune cells. And we can see that where the SK&P effected an 111 gene whereas the controlled regiment effected 38 genes. It’s very remarkable, that so many changes in the gene expression occurred in such a short period of time the two-hour period,” added Saatcioglu.
Participants review
“After practising Sudarshan Kriya I feel a lot stronger in my body, I used to faint by low blood pressure and there is no sign of that anymore,” said a participant
“I had a lot of problems with my health, actually I got cold very often and sometimes I have problems with my stomach, but after I started practising Sudarshan Kriya, these problems all gone, now I am happy, healthy and strong,” added another participant.
Yogic practices have far more wide impact inducing health benefits through differential changes at the molecular level. If your yoga mat has been gathering dust, it’s time to take it out and practice the Sudarshan Kriya.
Sudarshan Kriya is a yogic practice that can be learnt in the art of living happiness programme, offered in over 150 countries around the world.
